Famine Stalks the Sahel

For the second year in a row the rains have not fallen in the Sahel, causing untold hardship for the peoples there as well as their livestock.  Many of the nomads have left the region with their herds to search for pasturage and water.  But for the settled people the situation is especially dire.  Their animals have started to die and the weakest of the people, the elderly and the young children especially, are the next victims.  For some it is already too late. Most of the world is unaware of the situation.  I have yet to hear one of the major networks here in the US mention the situation.

However, your contributions can help to alleviate some of this suffering. ABIS operates a special "Millet Store" in the region of Tin Akoff in the Oudalan province of northern Burkina Faso.  ABIS buys the millet in the south and distributes it to the peoples in this region for much less than they could find it anywhere else, if in fact they could find it.  Their stock of millet is very low at this moment and contributions are needed to replenish the supply.  I want to renew my drive to sell CDs of the ABIS movie of the Sahelian dogs.  All the proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go directly to ABIS.  Please contact me if you would like further information.  A contribution of any amount can make a huge difference in the Sahel, where the average monthly income is $2.00 US.

Please, we in the west have so much, al hamdullilah.  Surely we can afford to share part of our bounty with those who are less fortunate.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
